ABOUT ST. JOSHEPH’S HEALTH CARE LONDON

Owned and operated by the St. Joseph’s Health Care Society, we are a family of care sites including: St. Joseph’s Hospital, Parkwood Institute, Mount Hope Centre for Long Term Care, and Southwest Centre for Forensic Mental Health Care. Within these facilities, our spiritual care services encompass rehabilitation, acute ambulatory care, surgical care, specialized mental health care (including forensic mental health), long term and specialized geriatric care, veterans care, complex care, palliative care, and specialized outpatient clinics supporting a wide variety of illnesses.

The Spiritual Care Team comes from diverse faith backgrounds. The team collaborates in the support of spiritual care students’ learning opportunities across our various locations.

We discover together with our students what it means to be a dedicated team, supporting those in our care while living with illness or injury.

SPE AT ST. JOSEPH’S HEALTH CARE LONDON

Over 25 years of experience in providing SPE has enabled us to continually refine and improve our experiential and classroom programs. We specialize in the provision of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE), which focuses on developing the art and practice of spiritual care. We use adult-based teaching methods to build on the knowledge base our students bring to the programs. Theological, psychological, sociological and ethical themes are woven throughout every training unit. We create opportunities for students to roll up their sleeves and get right to learning opportunities in the clinical settings. This is followed up with processes of reflection and analyses of caregiving experiences.

Our program is accredited with the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (www.spiritualcare.ca). Students receive a CASC/ACSS certificate for each course successfully completed.
