Clinical Psychospiritual Education (CPE) learners gain a wide range of experience across sites and programs, while delivering spiritual care to patients, families and staff. Learners gain valuable experience by becoming casual staff and participating in UHN’s spiritual care on call program.
UHN has a strong commitment, as an academic Health Sciences Centre, to an educational program in Spiritual Care under the auspices of the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC). CPE programs are offered at the Basic, Advanced and Supervisory levels, in a single unit or Residency format. The Residency program is comprised of three units of CPE. The program strives to prepare learners for registration in the College of Registered Psychotherapists (CRPO), by linking competencies from both CASC and CRPO, and through theoretical and experiential learning opportunities. UHN has a strong commitment to preparing learners for careers in Spiritual Care as regulated health care professionals.
