Year-long residency programs are offered as three consecutive courses - one basic and two advanced units - each 12 weeks long.

A prerequisite for this program is at least one basic unit of CPE. 

Students should apply for all three courses or the year-long residency if they wish to complete the entire program. Continuation in the program is dependent upon successful completion of each separate unit. 

St. Joseph’s Health Care, Hamilton

This is a 3-unit full time CPE residency program with residents required to be onsite Monday-Friday. Education will take place at the Hamilton Charlton Site. Applications will be accepted until March 3, 2025, or until a maximum of four (4) residents have been accepted into the program. If wishing to apply after this date, please call to inquire as to the status of the program.  A minimum of three (3) residents is required for the program to be offered.  Interviews will begin in February and residents will be accepted into the program on an ongoing basis after the beginning of March. A stipend of approximately $22,000 is provided.

This residency program is designed to support your journey toward CASC/ACSS Certification as a Certified Spiritual Care Practitioner.  Residents may have two clinical placements. 

University Health Network

This is a three-unit, year-long residency program set within the CPE courses offered at UHN. It will combine two intensive and one extended unit of CPE. Students with one Basic unit of CPE are invited to start the residency program but if you are interested and don’t have a Basic CPE unit please contact us and have a conversation. UHN’s Residency Program is designed to prepare students for a career in healthcare, covering a diverse range of clinical experiences. It offers an opportunity to work alongside some of the best healthcare teams in the world. Our residents are hired as casual staff for the duration of the residency and on call is expected throughout the program.
